Office for Low Emission VehiclesTo encourage the uptake of electric vehicles across the UK, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) awards various grants to help pay towards the installation of electric vehicle charging points. Specific funding is available for installations at home, in the workplace and on the street.

EV Chargepoint Grant (EVCG)

  • The EV Chargepoint Grant is for flat owner-occupiers and people living in rented properties, it replaces the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (commonly called the OLEV grant).
  • The EV Chargepoint Grant offers up to 75% off the total purchase and installation price for one chargepoint, capped at £350 (including VAT) per installation.
  • The EVCG for flat owner-occupiers and people living in rented properties is available to you if you live in flat or in rental accommodation (including flats and single-use properties).


Grant Eligibility

To qualify for the OLEV/EVCG grant you need to...

  • Own or have leased for at least six months an eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
  • You must have dedicated off-street parking.
  • You must install an approved charge point.
  • You must use an approved charge point installer, all of our installers are approved.
  • You must be a flat owner-occupier or live in rented accommodation.


Vehicle Eligibility

Most, but not all plug-in vehicles are eligible for the OLEV/EVCG grant.

  • All full battery electric vehicles are eligible.
  • Plug-in hybrid vehicles are eligible if their CO2 emissions are below 50g/km.

Claiming the EV Chargepoint Grant

We will handle all the details of your claim for you. Simply answer the questions during checkout and provide us with the necessary documentation, we will take care of the rest.

If you are a Scottish resident, then through the Energy Saving Trust Scotland, the Scottish Government offers an additional grant of up to £300 on top of the grant. We will handle this additional claim on your behalf if you are eligible.



The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)


The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a grant of up to £14,000 that businesses can use to offset the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points for their staff.

  • The WCS grant will apply to 75% of the cost of each new workplace charging station, capped at £350 per charge point socket up to 40 sockets.
  • The grant is available to any business, charity or public authority, with some exceptions.
  • The charge points installed must be approved for the WCS.


WCS Eligibility


The WCS is available to any business, charity or public authority that meets the following criteria.

  • You must have dedicated off-street parking.
  • You do not need to have electric vehicles as part of your fleet, but you do need to express an existing or future need for the business.
  • You must have the charging station installed by an OLEV-approved workplace charging station installer (all of our installers are OLEV-Approved).


Claiming the OLEV WCS Grant


The WCS is a voucher-based system that a business can spend on the purchase and installation of workplace charging points.

  • The eligible business first claims their vouchers using the Government's online application process.
  • If successful you will be emailed a voucher code.
  • This code is presented to our OLEV-approved installer, who will claim the grant after the installation is complete.
  • The voucher code is valid for 120 days from the issue date.



On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme


This scheme is open to local authorities to install on-street, publicly available charging points. More details can be found here.
